This utility allows you to add SQL Express servers to the Express Agent
service, configure service options and control the service status.
Depending on the shortcut options you selected when installing, there
will be shortcuts on your Start Menu, Desktop and Control Panel. If you need
to create a shortcut then the executable is in your installation folder and
named vswCPL.exe.
The default installation folder is "C:\Program Files\Vale
Software\Express Agent\Agent\"
Servers Tab

This tab shows the SQL Express servers added to the Express Agent service
(i.e. the servers that the Agent is configured to monitor).
Use the Add, Edit and Delete buttons to maintain the list of servers. See
Server Properties for information on
adding/editing server settings.
You can disable a server (i.e. stop monitoring a server) by clearing the
check box in the Enabled column.
Options Tab

This tab allows you to set configuration options as follows:
Autostart service when operating system starts
Check this box if you want the Express Agent to start automatically
(recommended).
Delete log files older than
In addition to email alerts and Windows Application Log entries (configured
separately for each job) the Express Agent maintains its' own detailed log
files in the "C:\Program Files\Vale Software\Express Agent\Agent\Logs\"
directory. These log files can be opened in a text editor such as Notepad
and are useful for tracing activity and tracking down problems. Enter the
number of days you want to retain these log files.
Email Settings
If you want to use email alerts when a job completes (configured separately
for each job - see Express Job Builder) then you will need to specify the
email account used by the Express Agent for sending emails. These standard
email settings can be found in your email program.
Use the
Send a test email button to check you've
entered the email settings correctly.
Status Tab

Use this tab to control the service status.
